Things I think I think

1. I never have figured out why people go to the Texas State Fair on the Saturday of the Red River Shootout (not Rivalry) unless they're going to the game. What would be the point? I mean, I guess maybe they've got some sheep shearing competition happening, but why fight the extra-large gameday crowd to buy a deep-fried banana split and ride the ferris wheel?

And if you're remotely interested in college football, wouldn't the cheers from the Cotton Bowl just be mocking your inability to get a ticket?

Given a choice between ...

A. 12 consecutive hours of FrankTV
B. back-to-back-to-back Sun Belt football games
C. being the volunteer transcriptionist for DriveTime Sports
D. being at the Texas State Fair without attending OU-Texas

... I'm not sure which would be a worse punishment.

2. Frank DeFord says football is so popular in the South because the region was settled by Celts from Scotland and Ireland. This one again proves the old adage "If it's not Scottish, it's crap" holds true even through the generations ...

3. Some "Big doin's in the Big 12" according to the SportsJournalists.com CFB poll ...

4. If you don't have AwfulAnnouncing.com bookmarked, you should. If for no other reason than the weekly Pam Ward Chronicles where the most idiotic statements by CFB announcers from around the nation are compiled ...

Magic 8 Ball Prediction

Will Arkansas cover the spread (currently 19 points) against Auburn this Saturday?
