Project Playoffs:
Week 6 standings and seedings

Nebraska is ranked No. 4 in the USA Today poll. Please tell me how their schedule so far has been tougher than Boise State's. It hasn't. According to Sagarin, Nebraska's strength of schedule is No. 76, and Boise State's is No. 28. Yet you never hear Mark May or any of the other anti-Boise people complain about Nebraska being in the top five right now.

This plan would settle it all on the field instead of in the media, coffee shops, and message boards. If all was fair and right in college football, this is what the realigned conference standings would look like in Week 6 with seedings for a 16-team playoff. (Seedings are derived from the Massey Comparison Rankings, which take every poll and computer rating into account.)

First-round match-ups:

16 West Virginia at 1 Boise State
15 NC State at 2 TCU
14 Arizona at 3 Oregon
13 Michigan State at 4 LSU
12 South Carolina at 5 Nebraska
11 Missouri at 6 Ohio State
10 Stanford at 7 Oklahoma
