Transcript: Champion's roundtable
Geoff H: "Congratulations Mike. Luckily I was airborne during the game and didn't have to go through the agony of watching Oklahoma lose. Oh well, if I hadn't picked Oklahoma I wouldn't have had a shot a winning. Winner buys beers for everyone in the pool right?"
Swim: "Hamm's Light for everyone! OU out-played them for three quarters, guess I had just enough luck left in the tank..."
Jimmie D: "Congrats Mike and all other winners. It was nice to see a competitive BCS Championship game for a change. I'm already looking forward to next year's season (the pool, that is). And I'm dissapointed that I won't be able to display the trophy on my amp during the hazynation reunion show at Juanitas on Feb 14 (shameless plug)... and my Ramon Escobar Show t-shirt hasn't fit me since 1998 - yes, I still have it...."
Sal: "Congrats Mike. Looking forward to next year. In the end, OU knew they didn't belong. Once again, the Heisman voters got it all wrong. Tebow and McCoy performed in 4th quarters this year. In the two biggest games, when games were tight, Bradford failed to lead his team down the field for a touchdown. Failed against Texas. Failed
against Florida. Hook 'Em!"
Geoff H: "Sal, One thing I found puzzling was your sudden Gatormania. Granted, you had money riding on the game and that trumps most everything... but if Oklahoma had won wouldn't you have been able to claim that your Longhorns were the true national champs? After all they would have been the only team to have defeated the BCS champ Sooners. Moot point I guess. Congrats on 2nd place."
Sal: "Yes, there were a ton of people here in Austin rooting for OU, based on that logic. But, the media is so short-term oriented and the game in Oct is out of their mind. OU would have been #1 in the A.P. Additionally, from a recruiting standpoint, you never want OU to have more championships -- as tainted as the majority of their championships are. 0-5 in their last 5 bowl games is a good thing for recruiting in Texas."
