Hello from Big O:
After such stunning success picking winners based upon my limited research abilities (Ha), I am nevertheless encouraged to continue to do so -- at least for a second week. First lesson learned, however, don't really expect the Big East (UConn) or the Big 10 (Purdue) to meet the recognized pundits' expectations, at least in football. Indeed, I note that many of the lofty prognosticators -- including SI and the B'ham News/other Alabama writers -- have chosen the MSU Bulldogs over our beloved Tigers because they did so well against an inept Memphis State eleven (note, I didn't call them football players because they were truly that bad) while seemingly ignoring Florida's really awful offensive performance last week. I nevertheless have at least weighed their selections before making the following choices for this week: 1) South Carolina (because they actually looked like an upper echelon SEC team winning last week and, moreover, they do have a home field advantage at their stadium as their fans are indeed loyal and vocal in a sportsman like way -- based upon Lee and my viewing of our game there years ago); 2) Michigan (because, again, their performance last Saturday impressed me more than ND, even if they have their home crowd advantage); 3) Miami (because I fully expect Ohio State, even at home, to stub their toe once or twice this year and Miami is good enough to do it); 4) Oklahoma (as our resident FSU player-of-old admits, OU doesn't lose at home); and 5) Penn State (because the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa doesn't have an experienced defense, especially secondary, and JoePa will have them primed to beat last year's National Champs (although really stupid for SI, et al, to go along with their claim of 13 championships). Well one last task out of the way in time to get my game face -- and all orange get up -- on for tonight's inter-SEC slugfest... War Damn Eagle! War Cam Eagle! Hell, War Michael Eagle!!!

Thanks for the shout out. I'm still trying to live in my glory days. -- Drumline Cory
Too much thought went into these picks... I feel a 1-4 in my future! -- Parkerman

Jeff Go's weekly breakdown:
Damn VTech's 2-minute drill preparations. They really blew it on both sides of the ball Monday night. BSU looked good, but votes for Number 1? Give me a break. This week allows me to hate on ND - thanks.
USC - UGa has let me down many times. This might be a hell of a game.
Michigan - recall my hating on ND from previous posts. I'm nothing if not consistent. I mean it - that's all I have to offer.
OSU - I would be tempted to take Miami with the points.
OU - not sure about either of these teams, so I'm going with the homers - again. Consistency - see above.
'Bama - Trent Richards is better than Ingram.

Ugh! Michigan stopped me from going 5-0. I guess I was just still remembering 2007. -- T-Mac
1-4 to start -- nowhere to go but up (or 0-5) let's see what happens now... Niagara the physic wonder dog is on stand by... Miami - Ohio State: This is causing me actual pain - Winner = Ohio State. Penn State - Alabama: Gameday is coming to the Hill - Winner = Alabama. -- David M.
Wow... throwing the upset points in this early... clearly seperating the men from the boys... well I'll man up for one bonus point game, but I didn't get to be middle middle class by taking too many risks! Now I take no great personal pride in picking Alabama, over my beloved Nittany Lions... but their fist quarter stumbling with Youngstown St. (albeit 4 1-A national champs), gives me great pause over the frosh at the reigns. I will gladly forfeit the point if PSU can pull off a miracle. For the record, I am not an alumni. I went to University of Dayton, but married into an entire family of psu alums and by default became a rabid lions football fan, especially since the Flyers are unlikely to make it to Poolsville anytime soon! -- Bizzy G
Okay, 5-0... Take 2. Action! -- Alex Player
Notre Dame (part of the job description), Florida State (I'd rather lose than pick Oklahoma) -- Steve S.
Ok, hopefully I will do better this week than last week... If not you and John can make up a top ten list of things not to say to me b/c I will not be happy!!! -- Lauren C.
Check is written and will be in the mail tomorrow. Now that I have paid, I will not have another 5-0 week all season! -- Brian R.
Dailey and I have already reveled together in our early success. Now to keep it going... -- Wuje
I am going for losing all games and coming in last so I can get whatever you get when you come in last at the end. -- 0-5 Eileen
Hey, Brett and I have always been competitors, ever since we assembled a team of soccer players for Hoopfest 1990 under the name "The 40-ounce Posse." I think we went 0 and 3 that summer, but i did make a 35-foot 3 pointer that made the other team laugh aloud. At least Wuje should be pleased with my ND pick. -- Jeff D.

The mysterious HogTattoo says:
Notre Dame - It's not yet time for the Catholics' hearts to be broken.
Ohio State - Miami only wins if Luther Campbell starts paying players again. Luke's twitter feed is not nearly as entertaining as his old raps. I'd donate a large sum of money if the UA band broke into a 2 Live Crew song during a halftime show.
Oklahoma — Unless, of course, Chief Osceola stabs the Sooner Schooner's horses.
Alabama — Spotting a houndstooth cap in the stands, Joe Pa wanders over to the student section to shake hands with Bear Bryant.Nick Saban uses the distraction to make a deal with Satan for another national championship.

Ugh. I pretty much hate it when Georgia is in the pool. Especially on the day the NCAA yanks our best player for four games. That being said... um, Go Dawgs! -- Hilary D.
South Carolina - Take that Demillo! -- Amy S.
OK, I have given everyone a one week head start, thanks to my 3 last second losses (well, 1 was an OT loss), no worries for me though, I am all in now... -- Jeff K.
